Happy Sunday!!

It was a very boring sunday...I think I left my bed 3-4 times through out the day :/ Not good!

Today is exactly 3 months since I shaved my hair for Child Cancer!!

3 months and it's already growing back incredibly fast! 

Later on in this post I will upload a few pictures of my hair before and after. 

There will be future blog posts once a month updating on my hair growth progress! 

I thought in todays blog post I would talk about why I decided to do the 'runrazor' - Child Cancers little pun there :P

In November 2008 my twin sister Maddie was diagnosed with Lymphoma Non Hodgkins Stage 2 B Cell Cancer. 

November 4th 2008 started by me getting ready for school while Maddie got ready to go to the hospital to get stitches taken out after getting a lump on the side of her neck removed which doctors and specialists thought was just a cyst.

Without letting Maddie or my parents know they decided to biopsy it anyway...

So I made my way to school as Maddie drove off in the other direction. 

Around lunch time there was talk around school that my home room/maths teacher was looking for me and of course the first thing I thought was "shit he's going to have me on about my homework" since I didn't really give a crap about maths at all, who does anyways? 

He eventually found me and then said I was to go to the main office to see the principal so my thoughts then jumped too "holy shit i'm going to get expelled, why didn't I just do my bloody homework!?" because at the time that was my biggest worry in life. I then go to the office and saw my parents and Maddie in the office & everyone had puffy red eyes and Maddie was balling her eyes out. I will just add in they were at the school getting things sorted for Maddie since she would no longer be in school until further notice... I was told to sit down and mum then told me her & Maddie had to move a way for a while, and thats when she told me Maddie had cancer...So obviously that was the biggest fucking plot twist in our lives so far!! 

Maddie was to have treatment 5 hours away from where we lived for 4 months so I only got to see her on the weekends over the summer which after being so close all our lives only really having a night a part from each other for the occasional separate sleep over 4 months a part and only getting to see each other in the weekend where should would be very sick most of the time was shit for both of us. (mainly her obviously x) 

In 2011 she got the call that she was out of remission and cancer free!! YAY!!

Now back to the whole hair story...

At the time only being 14 years old I was too caught up in how I looked and all that crap that all teenagers go through their first year of high school, I never thought to shave my hair to support Maddie which I feel quite shit about since her losing her hair was such a big shitty moment in her life due to the circumstances but over the past 5 years I have also come to know a few people who have gone through treatment & survived and sadly some had passed away and it got to the stage where I thought fuck it! I don't care what people think of me & I still feel horrible for not doing it back when Maddie did have cancer, i'll raise money for Child Cancer and shave my hair off :) 

And once I have my mind set on something I won't do anything until it's done!

I managed to raise $500 in just under 2 days which is awesome and I thank everyone who donated so much! You are all truly amazing.

And the next stage was to obviously shave it all off!!

Although I sometimes miss my long hair I don't regret the decision at all!

I am so happy that I get to keep my twin sister/best friend/other half by my side for many years to come & I am so proud of her for what she went through and I am so proud of the person she has become today!! But I apologise Maddie that I wasn't there for you as much as I should have been and I know that that wasn't in my control and that I couldn't be by your side all the time during treatment but I hope you know that if I could have been there 24/7 I would have been but yano all that soppy shit xo
