Unbroken Movie Review

Unbroken (2014/2015)
Angelina Jolie
137min
PG-13

I only just recently watched 'Unbroken' since New Zealand is so behind on viewing new movies in cinemas!
I first stumbled across the trailer on youtube & the trailer itself was proof enough that this film would be amazing.
Before I watch any film I look into who plays who so I have a better idea on what the film would be like based on which actor/actress would star in it...weird right? I could just watch the movie and find out that way..But no, thats not how I do things!

I saw that Domhnall Gleeson was a part of it and after seeing him in 'About Time' I definitely had to see it now! So the trailer, and Domhnall had already sold me that this movie would be great! And after watching this movie I can honestly say it will make my top 2014 movie list, which I will make a blog post on eventually. The movie starts with an angelic choir singing (We Are Here - Alexandre Desplat) as the camera pans through out a red lit sky and then you see a sky full of war planes...and then Jai Courtney comes into shot...They were right to have an angelic choir singing if his face comes into shot...Woo!!

The movie jumps from the films present day to the past and continues to do this quite frequently through out the variation of the film, its not confusing at all but it may be annoying to those who just want to stick with the current story line to find out what happens to Louis Zamperini  (Jack O'Connell) the main character, but the flash backs do play there part in you becoming more attached with Louis. I don't want to give much away for those who haven't seen this film yet but all I can say is that this is an inspiring, beautiful film and anyone who is interested in how things were around the time of World War 2 then you will enjoy it.

In my opinion the lead Jack O'Connell wasn't 100% amazing for the role, but he still did amazing and Angelina did a terrific job creating such a intense, strong film. I can't wait to see what she creates in the future and I hope to see more films like this soon!

4 stars from me!!!

Face Art ✍

A couple months ago I promised to write about some of the painting I had been doing recently and even though it is a few months late I'm going to keep that promise and show you today!
I have always been my hardest critic when it comes to anything I do creatively so making this post makes me quite nervous but I need to get past the nerves and just upload them!
Very rarely do I say I'm proud of anything that I but I am proud of final pieces that I created!

The first look my sister and I were incredibly bored one night so I decided to play around with makeup but I didn't just want to just do the same old boring makeup routine I do pretty much everyday so I came up with this....

To create this look all you need is:
-  Liquid eyeliner or gel eyeliner
- Yellow, Brown, Gold Eyeshadow for shading the face where you would contour and apply bronzer, preferably matte shadows but shimmer shadows can work as well, you'll just need to build up the colour
- Mascara
- Metallic eyeshadows sticks or shadows in bronze, brown, gold for the inside of the spots

You're going to notice a lot through out this post that my sister Maddie is the model for any work that I do, and for that, thank you so much Maddie for sitting still for an hour at a time
♡♡

My next look was recreated and inspired by Madeulook by Lex on youtube, she is truly amazing and you should definitely check her out!
One of my favourite animated movies is the Nightmare Before Christmas so I died when I saw she had created this, so I thought why not give it a go!

For this you will need:
- Moisturiser, so the face paint doesn't dry out your skin
- Black and White face paints
- Black and Grey Eye shadows, preferably matte, if not you can always build up your shimmer shadows again to create the faded cracks
- Liquid eyeliner to line you're upper and lower eyes if you don't feel comfortable applying paint close to your eyes

Here is my finished piece!

My last piece was inspired after seeing Annabelle the horror movie.
I wanted to create a damaged fragile doll but I also wanted to incorporate the idea of Annabelle once being a human women...So this is what I came up with.

To create this look you will need:

- White face paint
- Liquid eyeliner
- Black shadows
- Mascara
- Glue stick to stick down eyebrows before painting over
- Coal Eyeliner
- Red lipstick

If I had to pick my favourite it would be the last image :)
I will be painting some more in the next couple months so I will definitely make an updated post on future pieces.

Thank you so much for reading todays blog and I'll write to you guys soon!

1st - 13th January

Wow...So this is extremely awkward.
It has been nearly 3 months since my last blog entry, talk about lazy!
I have no idea why but I feel so anxious writing right now, I shouldn't be nervous writing an entry on my own blog, not many will read it anyway but regardless, what the hell?!

I guess I should start by saying where & what the hell i've been doing the past few months...I'm still having issues with my knee, still unemployed & still trying to better myself to become a more confident & happy woman.

In the knee department, I not long ago (I can't remember which month it was! ugh! sorry...) I got an appointment to see a specialist in Invercargill so my surgeon could get a second opinion about my knee, and as per usual it was a complete and utter waste of time. I get the same answer over and over again and its past frustrating and upsetting and it just freaking annoying now. My knee won't strengthen because of some damage under my knee cap from previous dislocations and the pain stops my muscles from wanting to work but all my doctors want me to strengthen it which I do try to do but its too painful but they don't want to fix any of the damage and then just tell me to strengthen it again...
It just goes around in a full bloody circle...
I am still quite weak & I still haven't mastered the stairs yet but I am trying to walk most days, and i've been swimming quite a bit this summer so at least I'm staying reasonably active! Which is one of my new years resolutions, which brings me to my next topic.
New Years!
I spent new years with my sisters this year! First time in a very long time if not the first time ever! We just chilled out, had a couple drinks & took funny photos like we used to when we were little. I'm still debating with myself to include my resolutions in this blog post, it would be cool to look back on in years to come and see what I wanted to achieve when I was 20...Hmmm fuck it.
New Years Resolutions
1. Lose as much weight as I can, healthily.
2. Strengthen my knee!
3. Don't stress as much!
4. Take control of my life again whether that be getting a job or study

Number 4 is something I'd also want to talk about in this post!
Since I last wrote I have been looking & applying to fulltime work so I am able to save money to go towards my OE! Haven't had any offers yet but Im okay with that, at least I'm looking & not giving up!!
I have also applied to Animal Care/Vet Nursing at my local polytechnic which is all very exciting but extremely terrifying since I haven't studied anything in 3 years!
So I will definitely keep those who read this blog updated about that.

And now to talk about probably one of the biggest life changes in my life this year...
I moved out!! Yep...I no longer live with my twin sister.
Its incredibly hard & I know i'll have to get used to it.
We decided we needed space to grow and discover who we are without each other depending on one in other. It was time we became independent!

That is all I can think of to update you guys right now...
There will be more posts to come and I don't think I'll be able to do daily posts anymore, I may do the occasional daily post but for now I think I might do weekly posts!

Thank you so much for reading.
I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas, fun and safe New Years and I hope 2015 is good to everyone!
