Unbroken Movie Review

Unbroken (2014/2015)
Angelina Jolie
137min
PG-13

I only just recently watched 'Unbroken' since New Zealand is so behind on viewing new movies in cinemas!
I first stumbled across the trailer on youtube & the trailer itself was proof enough that this film would be amazing.
Before I watch any film I look into who plays who so I have a better idea on what the film would be like based on which actor/actress would star in it...weird right? I could just watch the movie and find out that way..But no, thats not how I do things!

I saw that Domhnall Gleeson was a part of it and after seeing him in 'About Time' I definitely had to see it now! So the trailer, and Domhnall had already sold me that this movie would be great! And after watching this movie I can honestly say it will make my top 2014 movie list, which I will make a blog post on eventually. The movie starts with an angelic choir singing (We Are Here - Alexandre Desplat) as the camera pans through out a red lit sky and then you see a sky full of war planes...and then Jai Courtney comes into shot...They were right to have an angelic choir singing if his face comes into shot...Woo!!

The movie jumps from the films present day to the past and continues to do this quite frequently through out the variation of the film, its not confusing at all but it may be annoying to those who just want to stick with the current story line to find out what happens to Louis Zamperini  (Jack O'Connell) the main character, but the flash backs do play there part in you becoming more attached with Louis. I don't want to give much away for those who haven't seen this film yet but all I can say is that this is an inspiring, beautiful film and anyone who is interested in how things were around the time of World War 2 then you will enjoy it.

In my opinion the lead Jack O'Connell wasn't 100% amazing for the role, but he still did amazing and Angelina did a terrific job creating such a intense, strong film. I can't wait to see what she creates in the future and I hope to see more films like this soon!

4 stars from me!!!
